April 2021

CMG Plastics has announced the expansion of its in-mold labeling (IML) capabilities in response to growing customer demand. The company, which currently operates twelve IML systems across two manufacturing facilities, has added a new, high-speed Ilsemann Automation In-Mold Labeling System. The newest IML line is the fourth to be installed at the company’s NJ-based facility. CMG Plastics expects the global growth of IML among major food, beverage, and consumer products companies to continue, especially as advancements such as Digimarc’s SmartLabel technology, an IML integration that enables brands to create unique consumer smartphone-enabled experiences with a brand’s packaging, are adopted. Muller Technologies has announced the launch of the industry’s first self-contained collaborative robot (COBOT) case packer for the packing of lid and container packaging. The new automation product, which incorporates an Omron 6-axis cobot, helps processors bridge a major labor shortage gap in the U.S. plastics processing industry while also delivering greater versatility, flexibility, and productivity. The cobot case packer incorporates a standard Muller Human Machine Interface (HMI) which eliminates any programming requirements and stores multiple recipes for a wide range of stack and box sizes. The case packer can be purchased separately or integrated into an automation line such as Muller’s new M-Line system, a new integrated robotic and automation system which delivers significantly greater flexibility and versatility for production of injection molded packaging. Learn more.

Fort Dearborn Company today announced that it has acquired Hammer Packaging Corporation. The combined organization takes advantage of Hammer’s state-of-the-art technology to enhance Fort Dearborn’s leadership position in the decorative label and packaging marketplace by further expanding the company’s geographic footprint, capacity and capabilities. Arjobex, a leader in the manufacturing of high-end sustainable synthetic paper under the brand name Polyart® for the printing, tag and label markets, is pleased to announce it has acquired 100% shares of the MDV Group. MDV is a niche manufacturer and coater of specialty papers and films for the print, packaging, medical, sign/display, and building industries.
